AMADUDU JOB DESCRIPTION: FLOATING SUPPORT WORKER

HOURS:      minimum 16 hours (including weekend/day/evening sleep in cover)

RATE OF PAY:                 £13.21 per hour ACCOUNTABLE TO: Manager

Job Reference: Sessional FSW

Job Purpose

To provide support outside office hours and cover where required, to women, children and young people living in the refuge; those who telephone the refuge who are affected by domestic violence and abuse, for support and referrals; maintain safety and security of the refuge and its residents and ensure that all aspects of health and safety are upheld.

Floating support workers are at the refuge from 8am to 8pm. However, Amadudu reserve the right to alter shift times in line with needs of the project, requiring flexibility to meet needs.

Key areas of responsibility

  1. To offer support and information to women in refuge in line with Amadudu policies and practices.
  2. To liaise with other agencies when necessary, communicating information to day team.
  3. To help facilitate women living together and to manage any conflicts that may arise.
  4. To ensure that resident licence agreements/house rules are adhered to and that any breaches are passed on to the Manager, or action taken if appropriate.
  5. To help ensure that the house meets health and safety requirements and to ensure repairs are reported quickly.
  6. To help settle in new residents in line with induction and providing welcome packs/essentials to meet their needs.
  7. To assist in preparation of apartments for new residents coming into refuge
  8. To respond to telephone referrals from individuals, other refuges, and agencies as necessary and keep detailed records of these in line with Amadudu practice.
  9. To refer women on to other agencies and refuges where necessary, when refuge is full, and record details of enquiry i.e., name/agency enquiring/ referring, ethnicity, location of referral, number of children,
  10. To ensure handover notes are accurate and completed for staff members on following shifts.
  11. To be aware of issues in relation to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults and report any concerns in line with Amadudu safeguarding policy (Family Support worker designated Safeguarding officer or senior manager)
  1. To always work within the policies and procedures of Amadudu, especially in relation to Confidentiality, GDPR, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults and Protection from Abuse.
  2. To be familiar with Amadudu safeguarding policies including lone working policy
  3. To be familiar with Fire safety protocols, and safety of the building (locking windows and doors) No staff are to stand outside on the front doorstep with door open, comfort breaks can be taken in the rear garden area (only if children are not playing outside).
  4. To undertake mandatory and other training and to continue to self-evaluate and update skills as required for the needs of the service.
  5. To be flexible to support other areas of the service user needs when required.
  6. To provide cover for staff on leave or absent.
  7. To participate in monthly supervision with the Manager and attend team meetings/ other meetings as relevant.
  8. Whilst this sessional role description attempts to cover the main duties of the post, it is not exhaustive. The post holder is, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way and undertake any other reasonable duties within their capabilities and the scope of the post, as specified by the Line Manager.

Fundamental changes to the role description will only be made after consultation with the post holder.
