About the Service We have a family refuge in Merseyside, for six women and their children (accommodating larger families 3-bedroom apartments). The refuge is staffed by a diverse group of women which include the Manager, Full Time Family support worker, 2 x Night workers and sessional weekend staff and supporting volunteers

You will support the core key worker team in enabling smooth settling into refuge environment, building of confidence, providing a supporting listening ear and assist in activities that improve health and wellbeing of women and children.

The worker is required to be flexible to work Saturday and Sundays to meet the needs of the project, with additional hours offered occasionally to cover Night Staff Leave.

The Refuge prioritises the needs of Black and Minority Ethnic women with children (not exclusively). The project provides a range of services to support women residing on a temporary basis to resettlement into new homes.

The staff team work to ensure we help to build their self-esteem and live free from abuse. We offer advice and support for women we are unable to accommodate signposting where required to our network of supporting agencies.

The refuge is Merseyside’s first Black led specialist supported living project. We encourage women from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities with the required skills and experience to apply to complement our existing team.

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Experience of working with families in need, women and children

• Awareness of domestic violence and risks associated with provision of services

• Ability to follow policy and practice • Willing to undertake an enhance DBS check

• 2 referees (one latest employer)

• Experience of delivering quality services as part of a team
• Schedule 9 (1a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this position.
