This post is a Full time, Fixed term contract to 31.3.2027 (pending funding
review) Due to the nature of the service Black and ‘Minority Ethnic’ (BME)
Women only need apply (exemption: Schedule 9, Part 1, 158 and 159 Equality
Act 2010).
Amadudu are a well-established specialist refuge for women and children
predominately from Black and minoritised communities. Amadudu was established
in 1991 and is the only specialist BME refuge in the North West. We provide
temporary refuge accommodation for women and children, and a range of support
services to meet the needs of women experiencing Domestic Abuse.
The staff team have a range of expertise in working with the complexities of violence
against women and girls. We are a by and for women’s BME organisation.
Amadudu have a strong working ethos of providing inclusive and non-discriminatory
services to meet the needs of women and children accessing Amadudu services.
This opportunity is for an enthusiastic and experienced person to join and
complement the existing team, and the delivery of quality services with a specific
focus on supporting children aged 0 – 18.
The refuge is staffed 7 days per week 24 hours per day The successful candidate
will be required to be flexible to meet the needs of children at refuge.
You will be required to demonstrate a minimum of 2 years working experience,
skills and knowledge of working with families and children. Amadudu provide a
holistic package of support to families with specific focus on children.
Key duties:
Primary Family Support worker, working closely with Caseworker/Resettlement
worker and refuge Manager.
Tasks will include supporting families settling into refuge, fundraising for children’s
activities including out of school playschemes and resources, developing and
supervising delivery of activity programmes for children school holidays, providing
emotional support, undertaking casework with children, supervising volunteers
working with children, and supporting move on from refuge. Maintaining records and
data to ensure funding compliance and for reports to Amadudu Board/funders. You
will be responsible for your own administration using Amadudu agreed systems.
Amadudu are committed to Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children and have a robust policy and procedure in place. Full enhanced DBS checks and 2 references (one most recent employer), are required
for this post.
Qualifications:
GCSE English and Maths, NVQ or Diploma level 3 Domestic Abuse or Degree in
social work/childcare
